Jimmy was a first round draft pick of the Houston Astros, the 40th player taken overall in the 1991 Major League Draft. He went on to play 14 seasons in professional baseball with the San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos, and New York Mets organizations. Gonzalez has played with players such as Mike Piazza, David Ortiz, Miguel Tejada, and Tony Gwynn and has been instructed by catchers such as Gary Carter and Dave Engle. Jimmy also spent 4 seasons of winter ball in the Dominican Republic, capturing 2 Caribbean Series Titles. Gonzalez is a graduate of the Major League Scout School and has worked with the Boson Red Sox as an Associate Scout. Jimmy has been a minor league manager with the Chicago Cubs organization for the past 5 seasons and was named manager of the year in the Midwest League in 2016. This past season he was manager of the South Bend Cubs.
